What a great way to celebrate the original that you are.
One of a kind is right. When it’s handmade, why not shout about it? Now when you invest the time and creativity to make your own totes, bags and belts, you can finish off your project with belting that says so. Four new styles of Dritz printed belting/strapping are ready for you and your original DIY pieces.
First, the details.
The belting is 1-1/2″ wide by 2 yards long and is made out of a super soft polyester. There are four different words or sayings: original, one of a kind, maker (script on gray ground), maker (non-script on tan ground). Each font is a bit different, and is printed on a neutral ground that is really fashionable.
This belting pairs perfectly with Dritz 1-1/2″ hardware, such as swivel hooks, D-rings, rectangle rings, and adjustable slide buckles. With these components you can make all kinds of straps for totes and belts.
How to use it.
Check out this bag. We used the belting to make an adjustable strap, and a sew-on tag to reinforce the “maker” message. Double-cap rivets were used to make the tabs attaching the D-ring and swivel hook closure on the front of this bag.
Fobs are fun, and this belting is yet another material to consider when making some! Just remember that when choosing your hardware, you need pieces that work with the 1-1/2″ width of the belting (Dritz hardware comes in a variety of sizes – so check the packaging when choosing rings and swivel hooks).
This card wallet is a bit cooler when you know it’s a true “original.” Remember that you can sew the belting onto accessories or clothing and use it purely as a detail.
