New hardware transforms furniture, cabinets, accessories & more!
Did you know that you can find a variety of knobs, drawer pulls and hooks in the Dritz® Home collection of DIY products? They’ve been on the market since this spring, and we’ve been having a great time using them to refashion, update and create so many fun projects. We sent a selection of our knobs to Jennifer Mathis and she transformed this plain IKEA Rast dresser for her daughter’s room. It is easy, and inexpensive. Check it out!

I’ve been looking for a small chest of drawers for my daughter’s bedroom. She’s always in need of more storage, and I’m always looking for an affordable solution. When I came across the IKEA Rast dresser, I knew I’d found the perfect DIY project. |

The plain pine dresser is a blank canvas ready for creativity. I knew I wanted to paint it white and give it a distressed finish for that well-loved farmhouse look.
After a coat of primer, some light sanding and two coats of white paint, the piece was already transformed. |

My favorite part of painting furniture is distressing it. Using a hand sander is so much fun and speeds up the process. Start with slight distressing on the edges and corners then add more if desired. |

When the painting was complete, it was time to add the pops of color! |

The hard part was deciding on what hardware to choose. I narrowed it down to my favorite three choices and let my daughter decide.

All of the Dritz® knobs have a lovely weight to them. They’re easy to install and add an element of personality to your project.
The seafoam green glass knobs are the splash of color this piece needed. |

Each knob comes with screws in two lengths. I did find that I needed slightly shorter screws for the IKEA Rast dresser but that was an easy fix.
The easy-to-use hardware instantly transformed a plain dresser into a charming piece with personality. |

Isn’t it super cute? |

Wondering what I did with the other lovely hardware? I swapped out some plain silver knobs in my kitchen for the sparkly mercury glass knobs.
Such a small change can make a big difference. |

You don’t have to swap out all of your hardware to make a big impact. Just a few will add a pop of personality to any cabinet. |
