Click through to see a round-up of ideas that will have you looking like you planned and labored for weeks – we won’t tell.

Last-Minute Halloween DIY and Craft Projects for Kids

Quick costume ideas for your little ones (or you, if you’re so inclined!):

  • Frankenstein – you literally need scissors, safety pins and some old sweats. Buy a dollar store mask or use face paint to complete the look.
  • Tulle skirt – here you’re attaching tulle to a piece of elastic to make a skirt; use pre-cut tulle strips to speed up the process.
  • Skull T-shirt – scavenge through your sewing basket for extra safety pins and bobbins. Use our handy pattern to arrange them into a skull and you’re ready to go. Good news: cut them off after wearing if you want to keep them to actually sew with later on.

Easy party decorations:

  • Cheesecloth ghost – you need some basic craft supplies for this one, but if you get to it tonight, he’ll be ready for Halloween night. Always a crowd pleaser!
  • Personalized vase – flock iron-on letters make this project special. Fill vase with candy or other simple decorations.
  • Cover button napkin ring holders – add zip to a holiday table; this uses basic sewing supplies, plus cover buttons and elastic.

  • Cheesecloth pops – make basic treats a bit more special; pops are transformed to ghosts by simply wrapping them with cheesecloth.
  • Treat bags – you can skip the dyeing at this point, but adding iron-on lettering ensures your trick-or-treater keeps his/her stash at-hand.
