What you’ll need:
- Dritz® Fray Check™
- Dritz® Liquid Stitch™
- Dritz® hem gauge
- Dritz® ultra-fine straight pins
- 17” x 17” fabric*
- Dritz® 1” D-rings – 2pc*
- 9” of 7/8” grosgrain ribbon*
- Sewing machine
*per napkin and ring set
Each napkin requires a 17” x 17” piece of fabric, so begin by cutting your fabric into individual 17” x 17” squares. Using the hem gauge, double fold the edges of each square ¼” and press to create a crisp edge.
Sew a ¼” topstitch around the edges of each napkin. TIP: Get creative with your stitches and thread colors; have fun giving each napkin its own distinct style!
Cut 9” of ribbon for each holder and apply Fray Check™ to both ends of each ribbon. TIP: Use a combination of diagonal and V-shaped cuts to mix things up!
To make individual holders, loop one end of each ribbon through 2 D-rings and apply Liquid Stitch™ to the overlap. Pin to hold in place while drying.
We hope you’ll have as much fun as we did picking out your fabrics and ribbons, and mixing and matching them with your tableware. Have a favorite platter for entertaining or a go-to set of party ware? Use them as guides when selecting your fabrics. And don’t forget about themed gatherings! You can set the stage for some wonderfully decorated tables simply by whipping up a batch of these napkins. A great beginning sewing project!
