Sewing Tutorial: DIY Corset with Hook & Eye Fasteners

This belt is a beauty. And those hook & eye fasteners!

One thing we love about new products is seeing them take center stage on sewing projects. This DIY corset belt from our fashion blogger, Laura, at Trash To Couture did not disappoint. Okay, the details. The full sewing tutorial is over at Trash To Couture. Take a closer look at those big Dritz hook & eye fasteners: they are brand new and come in nickel and gunmetal finishes. These hook & eye fasteners measure 1-3/4″ from side to side, giving them a real presence.

After constructing the basic corset, you can hand sew the hooks & eyes in place. (These were spaced about 1″ apart.)

You can also use a sewing machine and the button sewing foot and button stitch to apply the hook & eye fasteners if you want a really secure stitch (it also goes more quickly than hand sewing – but it’s your call!).
