No-Sew Project: DIY Wristlet with Rivets and Snaps

Give it or carry it yourself – either way it’s fab!

All the parties. All the gifts. Whether you’re making this for party going or gift giving, it’s a win. This clutch wristlet comes together easily with vinyl or leather material and Dritz rivets and a plastic snap closure. If you want to be really sassy, add on a pompom key fob.

Our fashion blogger, Laura, at Trash To Couture made this bag for us, and we just love all the Dritz hardware she used to create the look. See how she put it together below, or jump to her full instructions for specifics.

You’ll begin with template, which you need to trace onto leather or vinyl. (You’ll download the free sewing pattern template over at Trash To Couture.)

Once you have it folded into its final shape, use Dritz rivets to secure the pieces. Rivets are easy to install using a hand tool, and provide a really sturdy finish for this clutch.

In the corner, you’ll add an eyelet – this is where you’ll attach the pompom fob/wristlet. There are many styles of Dritz eyelets to choose from – some apply with hand tools, and others with the pliers as shown.

Once the rivets and eyelet are in place, it’s time to add that plastic snap closure. The plastic snaps and snap pliers are new Dritz sewing items, and the white star snap used for this particular project adds just the right kind of flair.

How do you like it? We think it’s just so cute – and versatile, too! Pair it with a metallic trimmed sweatshirt, and don’t forget to add that pompom key fob. You can also dress it up for the party with evening wear.
