Dritz sewing supplies for DIY belt-making: belting, buckles and belt tips

Here are a couple of the key Dritz® items we used to make our belts. The slide buckle set includes a buckle and two tips. You can buy extra belt tips to make additional belt straps to switch in and out of the slide buckle. Cool, huh?

Colorful belting material makes a great belt strap; it’s available in a rainbow of colors and it’s what we used for most of our belts.

One buckle + a variety of straps = a whole lot of good looks!

Here’s how the slide buckle, belt tips and belting work. For each belt strap, you’ll need a length of belting and two belt tips (one belt tip will be applied to each end of the belting).

To switch out the belting straps, just loosen the clamp on the underside of the buckle, and change your look! We made a variety of belting straps to use with a single slide buckle.

Check out this ribbon belt project from Jennifer Mathis. (Quite frankly, it’s what inspired all of the belt making in this post!) We amended her project by using 5/8″ grosgrain ribbon to let some of the base belting color stand out. It accents the ribbon nicely, don’t you think?
