Gather your supplies as noted above. Note that the embroidery floss colors you’ll need are totally dependent upon the artwork that you’ll be using. Simple designs translate best – our design only uses three floss colors.

Your child's art (or any drawing) becomes the star of this easy, yet thoughtful, gift that you'll make using a variety of Dritz sewing supplies. 1) With a pencil, trace the inner ring of the hoop on a piece of paper. This serves as a guide for your little artist.

2) Have your child use a pencil to draw a picture in the center of the hoop. Trace drawing with a Sharpie® marker.

Remember – simple designs work best. And it’s fun to incorporate the year into your design to commemorate when it was made.

3) Cut interfacing the same size as the inner hoop. Fuse interfacing onto wrong side of the fabric.

Note: hoop shows placement of interfacing.

4) Hold the drawing up against a window, or place it on a light box if you have one. Center interfaced fabric over the drawing. Use the Dritz® fine point marking pen to trace the drawing onto the fabric.

Tip: wondering what’s so special about the marking pen? Well it has water soluble ink that disappears when dampened. Most of your traced lines will be hidden with embroidery floss after stitching. But, if there are any lines visible after stitching, simply dab them with water to remove them.
