Celebrating Handmade at the Indie Craft Parade

October 20, 2017

It’s one of our favorite maker events!

Typically our team attends the Indie Craft Parade as guests – it’s in own backyard after all, in beautiful downtown Greenville, South Carolina. It’s a weekend event packed with makers selling their creative wares, and plenty of inspiration. It’s always fantastic to see how makers use Dritz® products to craft handmade items such as garments and bags loaded with hardware, or costumes and headbands that use our elastic. This year we took it up a notch, and had our very own Dritz® booth at the VIP gala, which is the event’s kick-off party. What fun!

Celebrating Handmade at the Indie Craft Parade Here’s a look at our booth. We had some great framed art on display, that used our notions and hardware in clever ways. Our banner proclaimed Dritz® loud and proud, and take a look at all those giveaway bags!

Celebrating Handmade at the Indie Craft Parade Our giveaway was a DIY tassel kit, which included a selection of fabric, plus a Dritz® tassel cap. We thought this was a perfect introductory craft to give to folks who may or may not be acquainted with our products, or who may be new to crafting.

Making tassels is fun! It’s also a great starter project — and if you haven’t noticed, tassels are a pretty hot accessory at the moment!

Celebrating Handmade at the Indie Craft Parade We had enthusiastic team members talking to Indie Craft Parade attendees, spreading the word about Dritz® and all of the fun things that you can make with our products. It’s great to see the wide-eyed expression of folks when they discover, “I can make that myself with Dritz®, really?!” (Answer: “Yes, you can!”)

Celebrating Handmade at the Indie Craft Parade Our raffle prize was a Dritz® sewing basket, loaded with notions and tools. We gathered names for our Dritz® newsletter, and those who signed up were entered for a chance to win the basket.

The Indie Craft Parade sure is a fun one! Put it on your must-visit list, if you love maker events. Speaking of maker events, do you have a favorite? Tell us about it! We’d love to hear about these gatherings that we know happen all across the country.

Happy making!
